Opinion Sought On:

MRP of products

Premise:

  • At present the octroi is paid based on 70% of MRP value instead of client cost which is about 45%.
  • What procedure does a company need to follow to pay octroi at cost
  • Most the products are sold at 30-40% discount. Company is giving regular advertisement of selling its products at discount – what are its implications on MRP

Opinion of Shruti Desai &Co.:

  • Discount is added back while charging Octroi in (Thane, Kalyan, PMC, PCMC, Nagpur)
  • In case of Accessories like 3D Glasses, Pouch etc. The value though added with the finished product, but against the product the amount is shown as Zero. The Octroi Department asks the queriest to mention the MRP and calculates Octroi on that too (Thane, Kalyan, PMC, PCMC, Nagpur)
  • Octroi is charged on the Invoice Value Including Vat (Thane, Kalyan, PMC, PCMC, Nagpur)
  • In case of Sales Return Note and then re-billing of the same Product (Octroi needs to be paid both times and the Octroi department is not accepting the refund claim Outside Mumbai)
